Sunday Salon...Here's What I am reading

The Sunday Salon.com
I just finished The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found I did not pick up any of the other books while reading this story. I just love a book that has good character development to the point...where you know before you read the next line how the character will respond to the situation and it just rings true to the integrity of the story line. It is with such satisfaction that you look forward to the story coming to fruition. I can't wait to blog about it for the Bloggy Book Club.
I have started Ghostwalk by Rebecca Stott and so far (I am only on page 9) it would seem it will be a wonderful historical murder mystery. I am already engrossed. The last book, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin, I will probably put off starting because while it is different from A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I just finished...it is set in Afghanistan and I am not ready to visit there again. It is supposed to be a very uplifting story, but I am not ready.

I very much enjoyed 'Ghostwalk' and can't wait to see what Stott produces next time round. It's always a plus when you discover a new writer who you know you are going to want to follow. I look forward to hearing what you think of this.

I recently read Splendid Suns, and although I did enjoy it, I didn't find it as powerful as The Kite Runner. A very touching relationship between the 2 wives, forged through the baby though.

Now I have some ideas for holiday books!
