Sunday Salon

The Sunday
I am reading firefly lane by Kristin Hannah for February Bloggy Book Club and I am half way through the book. This is a surprisingly good read for me, I had mistakenly thought it a romance novel and those really aren't my favorite novels to read. While there is some romance, it is predominately a great story of friendship between two young girls that spans thirty years!
I love the time period that the novel takes place in...the girls are a year younger than I was at that time in the 70's. I could relate to all the happenings and place myself there in my own life. I couldn't however, relate to their friendship though, as my father was in the Navy and our family moved every two years of my life...making life long friendships difficult for me to form. I have a few very long lasting friendships but nothing that lasted since eighth grade...I am intrigued by these characters and I am enjoying this book so far!
What's your longest friendship and what makes it special?
Where were you in the 70's?
What was life like for you?

My daughter's friend, Sara Nelms is pursuing her dream...if you haven't helped her out..please do and enter my drawing for an iPod nano!

I'm more an '80s girl myself. In the 70's I was anywhere from newborn to 7 years old. lol I do have a friend that has been in my life since we were 11, though, which is 25 years!

My longest friendship now is only about a few years old...I have lost all my friends from chinldhood...I hope to remedy that thought...maybe I'll check out this book!

I just have to laugh because you ask where was I in the 70's....well I was a little kid so it just gives me the giggles. :P

I had a very nice and long friendship with a girl from senior year of HS until about 5 years ago. I ended up meeting and dating her brother, falling madly in love and having my heart STOMPED on. It ended our friendship. Such is life.

Hi Ronda! A lot of my friends are really old friends--like we've known each other since we were 2! I have good friends that span all the different times of my life.

I was youngish in the 70s--like 4-12 and I remember it as a fun time! Of course, the outfits my sister and I have on in old pics are hilarious!

Uhhh, hellloooo! You do know that it is now Tuesday and you're two posts behind, right? Did your Russian pilates instructor kill you??? 'Cause that would suck. Big.

I was born in the early 70s so I just turned 8 in 1980. But I did wear the bell bottom pants. I have one friend that I've been friends with for 26 years now!
