My Turkey Weighs 26 lbs!

Everything reminds me of the fact that I have gained 20 pounds...old pictures, my clothes that don't fit and even the damn turkey!
The turkey actually weighs 6 pounds more than the total of my weight gain! Good for that turkey...not for me though!
I finally had my "Come to Jesus meeting" with myself and I joined Weight Watcher online last Wednesday! I had hoped that I would magically just wake up my old self but that has not magically happened...however everything ...I mean everything, seems to taste magically delicious!
So my "Weighs Ins" are on Friday...I was going to start weight watchers after the holidays but I knew if I did there is a very real possibility I would have a weight gain of an entire Turkey!
I would love to blame this on menopause but while some of it is...most of it is poor choices and lack of exercise...but I will admit that my metabolism has changed drastically since the onset of the big "M."
Well, (insert kick-ass drum roll) I have lost four glorious lbs! I may gain it all back on Thanksgiving Day...although I have already planned what I will eat so, I am hopeful!
My Oldest son who is a runner...he runs eight miles almost everyday...
in passing said "Mom, you should run a 5k."
He thinks I don't know he is challenging me..."Puuulllleeasse, I invented this routine , son!"
I, so far can run for a solid minute without walking...
5k....Here I come!

Ive gained 40 lbs this past year. I haven't changed anything...I guess maybe the big "M" has happened to me too, altho I like to think I'm still YOUNG!
I have a closet full of size 6 and 8 I cant get into. Maybe weight watchers would help me...

Isn't is a freakin' ball being a woman? I'm serious, my husband can put on and drop 20 pounds within a week. I'm in the kitchen for five minutes and I'm up two pounds.

You really are my hero! I only run when chased.
Congrats on the four pounds! The challenge is to put Thanksgiving into perspective- it is only ONE DAY do not ruin twelve days worth of work for one day.

I've joined and quit Weight Watchers online about 5 times over the years...I'm currently off the wagon. It really does work ... I've always lost weight while on it but then I just can't stand depriving myself and I go on "bender" and then when things get bad again, I go back on. A vicious vicious cycle!

We're only having a turkey breast so at least I don't feel guilty around my turkey!

Rhonda,

I've been fighting an excess of 10# for a couple of years, it really ticks me off!

It has to be the menopause thing, because I run everyday and watch what I eat and NOTHING happens! You've lost 4lbs awesome!

Anyway, have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy!!

WW Rocks!
I have gone to the walk in version and the online do it yourself and had good results both ways.
I think my problem is I like eating more than I like being thin these days. =(

Rhonda,

Don't give up - I am in the 20lbs and counting league and have been diligently going to the gym and counting calories and just when I was going to throw in the towel in disgust, it started happening slowly but surely the lbs started coming off... And I believe slow is good since that is real weight - at least that is how I console myself.

What really made a difference in my case was adding a lot of fibre to my basically vegetarian diet and eating no later than 6 every evening. I too had joined Weight Watchers one time and then put back all the weight because at the end of the day, it is all about discipline and the damn hormones in our age group... OK I can really get on the soap box on this issue because I have been struggling with it since the last couple of years and I used to be skinny!!!!

Good for you! I lost over 70 pounds on WW a few years back. I never did the online thing, but I imagine it's just as good as the meetings.

I'm with you, Ronda! I'm 45 and have been battling the bulge for a few years. I'm queen of excuses though and I hate to exercise.

I just got a Wii Fit game and Wii sports and although I was depressed to find out my BMI, I am looking forward to having fun getting in shape.

Hope you do great on WW.

Good for you, Ronda! I once lost 22 pounds between Halloween and New Years, so I know it can be done. The key is moderation and movement. These days I've been losing 1-2 pounds every 2 weeks, even though I barely move. The doctors say it's a combination of decreased appetite and the calories I burn justtrying to breathe. Can you imagine that?
